Island Literary Tradition: The Library Book Sale

Loaded down with treasures at the annual book sale

Nothing sustains writers like reading. While the island enjoys a large number of resident writers, it hosts an astronomical number of avid readers. And island readers don’t just read books, they consume them (as the photos from last year attest). For that reason, one of the most awaited island literary traditions is the annual library book sale. It starts this Saturday, July 17th at 8 a.m. at the MacVane Community Center.

If you’re a sucker for bargains, you can start filling a bag for a buck beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers organize the book sale tables by genre, making it easier for browsers to fill their bags quickly.

This is a major fund raiser for the Friends of the Peaks Island Branch Library and book, CD, DVD, and video donations are welcomed warmly. Please bring them by before Friday at 5 p.m.

See you at the Book Fair!
